Women in Aviation: Stephanie Villaver Inspires the Class of 2026 at Airworks’ 33rd Commencement Ceremony
In celebration of Women’s Month, the 33rd Commencement Ceremony of Airworks Aviation Academy was honored by an inspiring speech from airline pilot Stephanie Villaver, reminding graduates that success in aviation is built on perseverance, faith, and strong support systems.
Villaver is part of the Airworks Aviation - Cebu Pacific Air Trainee First Officer (TFO) Program and is currently flying as a First Officer of Airbus A320. Speaking to the Class of 2026 at Airworks Aviation Academy, she reflected on her journey from student pilot to airline pilot, sharing that her path to the cockpit was not a direct flight but a series of challenges, sacrifices, and unexpected opportunities that shaped her career in aviation.
In her message, Stephanie Villaver highlighted five key “coordinates” from her flight log, important lessons that guided her through the challenges and turbulence of her aviation journey.
-
It’s never too late to file a new flight plan. Villaver originally worked as a medical technologist before deciding to pursue aviation at the age of 24, proving that it is never too late to follow your passion.
-
Stop comparing your logbook with others. Every pilot’s journey is different. According to her, a slower progress does not mean failure: “A delayed takeoff is not a canceled flight.”
-
The sky favors the prepared. She shared how she worked multiple jobs while studying and training, making sure she was ready when opportunities in aviation finally opened.
-
Never forget your foundation. Behind every successful pilot is a strong support system of family, mentors, instructors, and friends who help make the journey possible.
-
Be grateful even on the hardest days. The challenges, fatigue, and mistakes in training are part of the journey, opportunities that many aspiring pilots are still praying for.
Her story highlights the growing role of women in aviation. As more women pursue careers in the industry, Stephanie Villaver’s journey serves as a powerful reminder that determination, preparation, and gratitude can help any dream take flight.
