CEBU PACIFIC CADET PILOT PROGRAM FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


The Cebu Pacific (CEB) Cadet Pilot Program 2.0 is a 96-week, self-funded program, that recruit candidates to train to become licensed commercial pilots. Cadets that successfully complete basic flight training and acquire airline qualifications will have a guaranteed employment to join the corps of aviators at Cebu Pacific, flying domestic and international routes. Successful applicants will study and train at Airworks Aviation Academy at Mactan Cebu International Airport, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.

  1. Commercial Pilot License with Instrument Rating
  2. 200 hours flight time experience
  3. Completed Airline Transport Pilot License Ground School with Multi-engine simulator experience.
  4. Type Rating qualification on either the Airbus 320 or the ATR 72-600 aircraft.

Yes. Applicants will need to pay PHP 13,250 after they pass the pre-screening requirements. This fee covers the pilot’s aptitude/suitability tests and medical screening.

All Filipino citizens (Filipino passport holder or dual citizens) who hold a college/university degree and are proficient in English, Math, and Physics are qualified to apply. CEB will apply equal opportunity to all applicants.

Airworks will oversee the pre-screening requirements and conduct screening tests. Screened applicants will be assessed by CEB.

None. Anyone who graduated from a 4-year course may apply.

Yes. Applicants must have an average grade of at least 80% or its equivalent in subjects related to Math, Physics, and English. If you do not have the following subjects on your college degree, you may present a Senior High Form 137 that satisfy the average grade requirement for Math, Physics, and English.

Yes. In general, candidates should be physically and mentally prepared for training. Part of the screening for the cadet program is a health assessment to determine suitability to the role.

Yes, you should have a Filipino passport. In case a candidate does not have a valid passport, he/she will be allowed to participate in the selection process, but the candidate has to secure a valid passport prior to the start of the training program.

There is no age restriction for interested applicants.

Any type of regulatory pilot exam self-initiated by the candidate prior to commencing the program will not be credited on the program.

This is an ab Initio program, meaning all candidates will start from the beginning and previous pilot training will not be credited towards the training program. Applicants with less than 20 hours accumulated flying experience (recreational flying or actual fight training experience) will be eligible for the selection process.

There are a number of steps involved in qualifying for the program:

Step 1. Apply at https://www.airworksph.com/pages/application/new-cadet.php you may also check the official invitation post on Cebu Pacific’s official social media channel.

Step 2. Airworks will review and filter all applications. During this period you will not be receiving any communication from CEB regarding the status of your application.

Step 3. If your application is deemed successful, you will be invited to attend testing and selection process in Pasay City, Metro Manila at Cebu Pacific premises, and accredited health facilities. The assessments may run for 1 to 4 days subject to an applicant progressing to each testing stage.

Candidates will be required to complete several assessment tasks, including some or all the assessments below:

  1. A core skills test covering numeracy and reading in English.
  2. A pilot aptitude test (CUT-E). This is a computer-based test specifically designed to demonstrate your abilities in tasks or skills relevant to piloting.
  3. A personality questionnaire


Step 4. If you successfully complete the aptitude and core skills tests, you will be invited to attend a panel interview with CEB staff the next day.

Step 5. Candidates that will pass the panel interview will then be referred to a partner health facility to undergo medical assessment the next day.

Step 6. Candidates who meet all medical assessments will be informed of the successful selection for the program and will be assigned a training start date subject to an agreement of the terms and conditions of the Cadet Pilot program.

Phase 1 “Aviation Foundation Course” – 4 weeks in Pasay Manila
Phase 2 “Basic Flight Training” – 68 weeks in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu
Phase 3 “Airline Integration Training” – 24 weeks Pasay Manila

The aviation foundation course is a preparatory course that encompasses academic study of aviation basics, tailored exercises to stimulate teamwork, and designed activities towards character development to ensure readiness of the cadets to handle the demands and expectations of the full training program. Candidates will have to pass theory exams to demonstrate competence before entry into the Basic Flight Training Phase.

There are two elements of the course:

  • 1. English language training
The purpose of the course is to expose students to typical types of language and accents for aviation communication, ATC instructions, and correct ICAO pilot read backs. The course will also provide opportunities to practice speaking in roleplaying flights, general English conversation and discussion to help prepare you for the first phase of your flying career at Airworks in Mactan Cebu International Airport, Lapu-Lapu City.
  • 2. Introduction to basic aviation theory in the following subjects:
  1. Aerodynamics
  2. Aircraft General Knowledge
  3. Loading and Performance Fundamentals
  4. Navigation
  5. Meteorology
  6. Flight Rules and Air Law
  7. Aviation Math
Students will be guided through approximately 120 hours of ground training (60 hrs. lecture / 60 hrs. tutorial) and complete 3 assessments papers.

You will need to sign a training agreement which will require you to render at least 10 years of continuous service to Cebu Pacific from your first productive flight. During this 10-year period, an amount representing all expenses incurred by Cebu Pacific for your Airline Integration training will be bonded commensurate to the term period of the agreement.

No. All training will be conducted locally here in the Philippines.

Cebu Pacific will provide air transportation to Lapu-Lapu City Cebu. Airworks Aviation Academy will provide transportation to and from the airport into its campus.

Each batch will be composed of 16–20 Cadet Pilots; and 2-3 batches will be deployed to Airworks for training each year, making a total of 48–60 Cadet Pilots yearly. Over a five-year period, CEB will deploy a total of 240–300 Cadet Pilots to Airworks.

Yes, it is a Cebu Pacific requirement that students stay at the Airworks campus for the full duration of the ‘Basic Flight Training’ course on a full board basis.

As part of the program, full uniform is provided (except for shoes). Cadet Pilots just need to bring their personal effects (list of personal effects will be provided at the start of the Aviation Foundation Course).

The job is guaranteed to all candidates who successfully complete and pass the basic flight training, aircraft type training, and airline integration training.

Cadets are willing to pay for the training fees associated with basic flight training up to the type rating training.

Cebu Pacific had partnered with Bank of the Philippines Island “BPI” for loan offers exclusive for the Cadet Pilot program. Cadet applicants should successfully pass the selection process. Furthermore, the loan offers of BPI may be availed by the sponsors (parent/ guardian) of the cadet applicant.
