Breaking Barriers - From Cabin Crew to Commercial Pilot

March is International Women’s Month—a time to celebrate the achievements of women breaking barriers. One inspiring story is that of Raushan Naseer, a former Maldivian Airlines cabin crew member who transitioned into the cockpit, proving that passion and perseverance can defy expectations.

From Cabin Crew to Commercial Pilot

Her journey began as a cabin crew member, where she engaged with passengers and observed aviation from a unique perspective. However, her curiosity about flying grew stronger, and she realized she wanted to be in control of the aircraft. Her love for aviation and desire for a new challenge led her to pursue a career as a commercial pilot.

Many questioned her decision, believing there were more prestigious career paths for women. Some viewed the role of cabin crew as less significant. However, she refused to let societal norms dictate her aspirations. Her experience equipped her with valuable skills like communication, problem-solving, and leadership, which helped her transition into becoming a commercial pilot.

Enrolling at Airworks Aviation Academy was transformative. The structured training program provided a solid foundation, while instructors’ guidance and an international learning environment helped her develop essential skills. Though the journey was challenging, each step brought her closer to achieving her dream.

Her message to young women: you are more than capable. Aviation may be male-dominated, but women can and do succeed. She encourages aspiring pilots to stay focused, believe in themselves, and surround themselves with support. The sky is not the limit—it’s just the beginning.

With her commercial pilot license within reach, she is eager to gain experience as a First Officer, mastering diverse flight conditions and sharpening her skills. Her ultimate goal is to become a captain, leading with confidence and inspiring the next generation of female aviators. She hopes her journey will empower more women to pursue their dreams fearlessly and redefine what is possible in the aviation industry.

Raushan Naseer's story serves as a powerful reminder that ambition, determination, and resilience can break barriers. As more women enter the aviation industry, they continue to prove that no dream is too big. This International Women’s Month, let’s celebrate those who challenge norms, redefine possibilities, and inspire the next generation of female trailblazers.
